Rembert Area Community Coalition (RACC) was founded in 2002 for the purpose of revitalizing the Rembert community and bringing needed resources to the area. RACC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and is recognized as a quasi-nongovernmental entity representing the residents of the Rembert community. RACC is certified by the State of South Carolina and the federal government as a Community Development Corporation (CDC) and a Community Development Entity (CDE) Charitable Organization. Rembert is a community with more than 6200 residents. RACC has acquired real estate with a youth center that houses an after-school and summer camp program. The second building is the Senior Center, which houses the senior citizen program and community training. The site has a car wash, a playground, and a basketball court, just to name a few.
Rembert Youth Center doesn't just do one thing; we do whatever it takes to build great futures for our young people. We do homework assistance, tutoring, school visits, and so much more. When serving and supporting our young people, we infuse the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion to build welcoming, safe places where all belong. Our Youth Center was established in 2001 once we realized there was an extra educational need in our community. Our after-school program assists with homework assistance & tutoring. We also prepare afternoon snacks, physical activities, and games to encourage healthy eating and lifestyles. A Place for Mom At Home Care Services, we understand the unique challenges and needs faced by seniors and their families. Our mission is to provide compassionate, personalized in-home care that allows your loved ones to maintain their independence and quality of life in the comfort of their own homes. Caregivers at Community Long Term Care are dedicated caregivers who enjoy helping their clients live the independent lifestyle they desire. With home care from RACC's Community Long Term Care, our caregivers come right to your loved one’s home and provide personalized assistance. One-on-one care is centered around the needs of your family member so it can have the biggest impact. Your loved one will be able to detail the types of tasks they struggle with and how their caregiver can help.
RACC established the Food Pantry in 2004 from the Rembert Post Office mailbox drive, where residents would donate canned goods by putting them in bags at their mailboxes for carriers to pick them up and bring them back to the Post Office for distribution. Eventually, RACC put in place our own pantry to assist those in need. RACC provides food crisis relief services to families in need in Sumter, Kershaw, and Lee counties. In order to receive food, the resident must live in Sumter, Kershaw, or Lee County. They must also know the names of everyone in their household. Residents can come between the hours of 10 am and 4 pm to receive food.
The Rembert Area Community Center obtained the Rembert Car Wash in 2009. It provides a need to those in our community but also to customers passing through our town on their way to interstate 20 or Camden, SC! Here at RACC, we focus on maintaining and keeping our facility clean. We try to give our customers a superior car wash experience with a better and cleaner product out of our wash bay. We also try to give our customers a well-landscaped lot with an attraction that any community would be proud of. At RACC, giving back is extremely important to us. That is why 100% of our profit goes back into the coalition to help fund our youth center and food pantry.
We are proud to announce that the Rembert Area Community Coalition (RACC) has received funding from the Healthy South Carolina Initiative (HSCI) to help make Sumter County a healthier place for all who live, work, and play here. We know that without action, chronic disease in our communities will continue to impact early childhood development, academic success, and workplace productivity. Based on the 2013 County Health Rankings compiled annually by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and Population Health Institute at the University of Wisconsin, Sumter County is ranked 19th (of 46) in health outcomes and 24th (of 46) in health factors.
We are now enrolling school-age children up to 12 years of age for our after-school program!

RACC is seeking to engage key partners in developing plans to create policies, systems, and environments in our communities to make living well easier. This effort could result in the development of safe places to walk and bike, access to healthy foods and recreation areas, and other positive initiatives. We understand that the residents of Sumter County desire a community that supports their health and quality of life—one that enables them to live well. The goal of these plans is to make the healthy choice the easy choice.
